Review by Stephan Gardner

Kaupapa Driven Rhymes Uplifted is the debut album by New Zealand hip-hop group Dam Native. The album, released in 1997, is a unique blend of Maori culture and hip-hop beats. The group consists of MCs Danny Haimona and Brotha D, and DJ D-Form.

The album is a powerful statement about the struggles and triumphs of Maori people in a post-colonial society. The lyrics are highly political, touching on topics such as land rights, racism, and cultural identity. The beats are catchy and upbeat, with elements of traditional Maori music mixed in.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Behold My Kool Style", which features a catchy chorus and a powerful message about cultural pride. Another highlight is "The Son", a tribute to the late Maori activist Tama Poata.
